After being out of the show for about 10 days because she was sick, Daisy has been cleared to perform again! Here she is at the Burlington Library yesterday:
She is the hit of the show, I have kids lined up afterwards to come up to get a closer peek at her. One thing we hear from adults after the show was that they thought rats were gross…until they saw Daisy and now they think they are cute!
I’m leaving today to head out on the road performing shows in Eastern, Washington State for the next four days. I’ll be performing eight shows in four days, so I’ll have a full schedule! This week I have my only public show that’s happening the entire month (the rest aren’t open to the general public) at the Akin Center Theatre in Yakima, WA on 5/19/12 at 1pm. If you are in the area come out and say hi!
If you call or email me while I’m away you may not hear back from me until Monday 5/21/12 when I’m back in the office. Sometimes when traveling cellphone reception and wifi can be hard to find. Please be patient, I’ll return everyone’s call or email by the end of the day Monday.
One thing that my show has never had is a “Spit Take”. After all these years I’ve finally got one in the show! The camera didn’t pick up my daughter’s audio, but she says, “Good job Dad” in the video clip.
Yesterday I performed at the Auburn Ave Theater as opening act for stand up comedian Bobby Tessel. It’s been a year or two since I’ve performed at the Auburn Ave Theater and it’s has some remodeling done and it looks great!
For the last few weeks I’ve been working on a new stunt for the show. It’s hoop and cup balancing. Last night was my first attempt in front of a live audience and I think it went over well:
Next up will be writing some more jokes and tightening it up a bit!
If you are planning an event and looking for other services like a DJ or photographer there are a ton of websites that have lists of businesses that service the event industry (i.e. http://www.partyblast.com).
Another option would be to call or email someone you trust (like me!) an get referrals. Each year I work with tons of DJ’s, Photographer’s, Juggler’s, Artists, Videographers, etc and I have a some people that I would recommend!
Personally my One Man Side Show gets a lot of work through word of mouth referrals from DJ’s, Photographers, and other people in the event industry, so don’t be afraid to ask me for a referral for another service!
Tonight I’m performing my One Man Side Show at the Tulalip Casino as part of their Comedy Show.
I’ve heard that they’ve recently changed the format for this show, it used to be three comedians and a band. From what I’ve heard the it’s now four comedians and no band. Tonight I have no idea who I’m working with, but they always book a solid show!
Not too long ago I was on the road performing in Oregon with my friend Matt Baker and we were doing my preshow grocery shopping. He was amazed at how much I need for my show. Here’s my preshow shopping list:
Banana
Carnations
6 Naval Oranges
Watermelon
Poster Board
Bottle of Water
Fortunately for me most of those things will last in the show 3-7 days, so I’m not buying them every day.
I just sent these new promo one sheeters over to the printer:
They are for promoting my One Man Side Show to events like Fairs and Festivals. If you’d like a copy of the flyer or more info on this show please give me a call at 206-669-3928 and I’ll drop you one in the mail, or visit me from 10/20/11 - 10/22/11 at the Washington State Fair Association Convention.
Also if you are a talent agency or event planner these one sheeters are “Agent Friendly”!
