My Favorite Magician!

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

One of the questions I’m asked a lot is who is my favorite magician.  My favorite is a guy named Nicholas Night.  I saw his show when I was about 19 years old and I fell  in love with it!   It’s the kind of show I could watch 100 times…and thanks to youtube I can!

Here’s my daughter’s favorite piece from his show:

Hope you liked it!

Here’s the fifth video in a little series that I’ve been making while I travel.

The premise is simple I create magic tricks or juggling stunts with things that I find in the hotel room that I’m staying in.  Hope you liked it!

I post these first on my Facebook Fan Page at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Louie-Foxx-Magic-and-comedy/133000580079210

Using Magic to Teach Science…

Monday, June 4th, 2012

Tonight on the internet I stumbled upon a little manuscript that someone wrote for science teacher to use magic as a tool to teach science.  What surprised me was that one of the tricks they use as an example was a creation of mine!

It’s a trick called marbles, however it’s not 100% my creation.   The science behind the orignal trick is very old, however the original verison didn’t work very well.  When I was a senior in high school I stumbled upon a way to improve this trick make it work a lot better.  I sold this improved version to magicians for many years and some magic shops still sell it, I just don’t promote it very much anymore.

Personally I found it very interesting and flattering that they decided to my version of the trick for their demonstration and not the original, “classic” version.   Having a stranger notice that my version of the trick is a HUGE improvement over the original is pretty cool!

Leprechaun Day Trick

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

Today is Leprechaun Day and it made me remember an old trick that I used to sell a long time ago.  It was three pieces of card board with pictures of Leprechauns on it and you switched the two pieces of cardboard and one disappeared.  The puzzle looks like:

leprechaun puzzle magic trick

You can try to print this out and cut it out along the lines.  Set it on the table and count the number of Leprechauns then switch the two top pieces and count them again.  Did you get the same number?

Is this a magic trick?  Well not really, it’s a puzzle however puzzle principles are frequently used in magic tricks.

Exploding Bubble Aftermath

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

Last week  posted a little video of me doing my Exploding Bubble Trick from one of my Reading Is Magic school assemblies (you can view the video here: http://louiefoxx.com/fansite/?p=473).  This trick is part of my Bubble Act which shows some amazing bubble tricks and a quick lesson on how to bounce bubbles like I did to break the Guinness World Record for bubble bouncing.

Well I was surprised a few days later when my video appeared on a very popular blog for magicians that’s written by a well known professional magician and read by amateur and professional magicians.  Video of my Exploding Bubble trick was used as a demonstration of creative magic tricks that use thinking outside the box.

I always love it when  other magicians mention my creativity.  I  hear it from audiences everyday when they laugh, gasp, clap, etc.  When I guy halfway around the world who I respect hears about it and  has to look me up…that’s a great feeling (almost as good as a live performance…almost…).

One thing I try to do in my show is keep it fresh by constantly updating how I make the magic tricks work with cutting edge secrets and new exciting tricks!
