Tonight I’m the headlining act for the comedy show at Dave’s In Milton:
I’ve done the show at Dave’s in Milton before and it’s a fun place to perform!
If you’ve only seen me perform for family audiences and have never seen my comedy club / casino show and are free tonight come out and see this show! It’s very different from when you see my show at a family night or theater!
I’m messing around with an idea I have for flag spinning (also called Flagging). It’s different ways of manipulating a flag and it’s similar but different from Poi Spinning.
This is the seed of an idea that hopefully will grow into a more fully fleshed out idea!

One of the coolest things about being a magician for my job is all the interesting people and acts that I get to meet! A few days ago I got to meet Luna the Soccer Dog and Walter after a magic show that I did. Luna is a really nice dog and she plays soccer!
Here’s a video of her on YouTube:
Luna is quite often around Pioneer Square in Seattle before Sounder’s games dribbling and passing the soccer ball. There nothing quite like watching her, the realizing she just passed the ball to you because it’s your turn!
I just got an email from the Pike Place Market that had a picture they took from many months ago when I rang the bell to officially start the Pike Place Market’s day!
I was selected to ring the bell to commemorate my Guinness World Record that I set at the Pike Place Market in January. For me that was quite an honor to start the Pike Place Market’s day, many many years ago I used to busk (street perform) down there with my little magic show!
Every year Guinness World Records has a day where they get thousands of people to attempt to break world records in a 24 hours period! This year Guinness World Record Day on on November 17, 2011.
I’m thinking I might try to officially break my world record for bouncing a soap bubble on my hand. My record is currently 88 bounces of a soap bubble on my hand before it popped. My personal best is about double that and my average is in the low triple digits, so I’m hoping that I can break my record.
On 11/17/11 I’m doing a couple of my Anti Bullying school assemblies in Tumwater, so that might be a good place to try to break the records, I’m sure the elementary school kids would love watching it!
I’m still on the fence about trying it…and the way air is in an elementary school gym might make breaking my record really difficult. I might do a few practice runs at a couple of schools in the next couple of weeks to see how it goes.
Lately I’ve been working on putting together more magic routines that are done to music instead of me talking. Here’s a bit I’m working on that uses handkerchiefs:
This was recorded in West Seattle at Highpoint Community Center as part of their Fabulous Family Fun series. It’s still a work in progress and realistically it will look a lot different the next time you see it.
Not too long ago I was on the road performing in Oregon with my friend Matt Baker and we were doing my preshow grocery shopping. He was amazed at how much I need for my show. Here’s my preshow shopping list:
Banana
Carnations
6 Naval Oranges
Watermelon
Poster Board
Bottle of Water
Fortunately for me most of those things will last in the show 3-7 days, so I’m not buying them every day.
I just scheduled a performance at the Christmas Carnival (formally called O Christmas Trees) on 11/28/11 at 4:30pm. This event is a fundraiser for Providence Health and Services. I’ll be doing a 20 minute chunk of my One Man Side Show for this event.
This event takes place at the Westin Hotel in Downtown Seattle and is free to attend. Besides my show the Arthur Murray Dance Company and the 5th Avenue Theater will also be there!
For years I’ve always wanted to do a classic magic trick in my show. It’s a trick where the magician pours the salt from a salt shaker into their hand and the salt disappears…then it reappears! I learned to do this trick while I was in high school in Minnesota, but it never really fit into the show. Over the years I’d tried putting it in off and on, but never really had a place for it and it lacked that certain Louie-Factor that I add to all of the magic tricks I do.
Fast forward to a couple years ago when I was writing a new show for that year’s summer library tour. The library theme was ” Make a Splash, READ” and I had decided to go with an ocean themed show for them that summer. Naturally I used the Salt Trick in the show while I talked about salt in the water of the ocean. It was fun getting to do the salt trick all summer, but it still lacked something and never made it into the regular show.
Here’s how the trick looked a couple of years ago:
The old version was a talking version that was great for a themed kids show, but wasn’t what I wanted for my other shows. So now the trick looks a bit different. I’ve added a new ending to it and it’s done to music:
I think the new ending makes it “POP” and it was Louie-Factor that it was missing! Want to see me do this trick LIVE, come out on 11/5/11 to the SecondStory Repertory Theatre and see me do it! For details visit: http://louiefoxx.com/calendar.php
