From now until 8/15/11 if you call me to schedule a magic show taking place anytime the rest of this year or in 2012 I’ll donate 10% of my fee to the Parent Trust for WA Children!
All you have to do is mention this blog when you call me…it’s that easy to make a difference!
Also on November 5th, 2011 I’ll be performing some magic at the Mad Hatter Tea Party which is the Parent Trust’s annual auction! The Mad Hatter Tea Party is a ton of fun for the entire family!
I just saw the cover of a book for professional magician that includes a trick that I invented!
The book is about how to perform Mentalism for kids. Mentalism is basically a trade name for fake mindreading or creating the illusion of reading someone’s mind. There’s been a lot of debate within the world of magicians as to how effective this type of magic is when performed for kids under about 10 years old. Do the get the concept of mind reading or do they simply think the magician is guessing.
I’m one of the few magicians in the world that has come up with an effective way to present Mentalism for kids and one of the handful of those magicians selected to be a contributor to this book. This is going to be a two volume series and I don’t know if my original creation will be in the first or second volume.
Unfortunately this book won’t be for sale to the general public, it’s intended for professional magicians only, so Amazon won’t be selling it. However if you catch me doing a school assembly this year you’ll probably get to see what I contributed to this book!
Last night I performing as part of a comedy show at Dave’s of Milton. I was working with Richie Stratton and Christian Ricketts:
Richie Stratton
Christian Ricketts
It was a very fun show and Mary who runs Dave’s of Milton after the show said it was one of their best shows! I had a lot of fun there and they have a comedy show every saturday night at 8pm. If you are in the Milton area and are looking for a fun evening be sure to check out Dave’s of Milton!
It turns out that this week is International Clown Week…I didn’t know it was either. Apparently the World Clown Assoc doesn’t have the same marketing budget as Shark Week.
While I am not a clown a lot of what I do in my family show is technically considered clowning by circus standards. I do verbal and physical comedy based around a skill act. In other entertainment circles this is considered being a prop comic.
Here’s one of my favorite magicians who is 100% a clown…but at the same time not a clown:
It’s taken me a lot of time to become a member, but I just got my membership packet in the mail. That means next summer I’ll probably be performing my magic and variety shows at a couple more fairs around the state.
I just updated my calendar of public magic and variety shows, it currently goes all the way into November! You can see where I”m performing at: http://louiefoxx.com/calendar.php
Of course I perform a lot more shows than what’s on the calendar. I only list the shows that the general public can attend…it doesn’t make sense to list private shows if you can’t go to them. Also August is the last month you’ll be able to see me present my World of Magic show…so come out and have a good time!
I finally saw the two page article about me in the Society of American Magician’s M*U*M Magazine:
It was a great article, the first 2/3′s was a biography on my and the last 1/3 was about something very unique that I do with my business card! Next time you run into me ask me to show you the business card trick that’s so unique the Society of American Magicians had to write an article about it!
